(35 min) LATE SUMMER SERIES: QIGONG FLOW TO PURGE
Purging exercises are used to cleanse the body of acquired Qi and to release Qi stagnation. We commonly acquire Qi from toxins in food, medications, air pollution, negative emotions, old emotions, low energy situations, and electromagnetic radiation (especially if you fly a lot).
A purging practice for late summer focuses on cleansing the spleen, stomach, and digestive system, as well as transforming the emotional toxin of worry. The first half of this routine uses body tapping and Earth Purification exercises to detoxify the digestive system, clear cold stagnant energy and ignite the digestive fire. The last part of the routine introduces purging flows designed to smooth the Qi field and purify the central meridian, restoring balance and harmony to the system.
Nearly everyone can benefit from purging exercises. Those who should not do purging Qigong are those who have weak or deficient Qi. When the Qi is weak, the body is trying to heal so it's not a time to detox, it’s a time to tonify.
Fun tip: use a YOQI bean bag instead of your hand when doing the body tapping!
