(40 Min) SHIBASHI SET 2 - INTERMEDIATE FORM WITH 10 MINUTE ZHAN ZHUANG STANDING PRACTICE
In Chinese, Shiba Shi means Eighteen Movements. This is a popular Qigong that is characterized by eighteen repetitive movements that flow from one to the next. The Shiba Shi sequence (not the movements) was created in 1979 by Professor Lin Hou Sheng who is revered as a great master in China.
The second set, or intermediate level of Shibashi is an intermediate level, so it is more challenging then the first set. I suggest you watch this video one time through before practicing the movements to get a visual overview. Take your time to learn the movements. You may need to practice this video multiple times before you can totally relax into the flow. If you feel tired then only practice a few movements and then rest.
The Shibashi 2nd form has more taiji and martial arts influence. It focuses on building energy in the legs and circulating Qi through the microcosmic orbit. It is also great for balance. Since this routine focuses on building qi in the legs, it is a wonderful preparation for standing meditation. At the end of the routine, Marisa guides you through the traditional standing meditation practice called Zhan Zhuang (Embrace the Tree). Standing builds you energy, confidence, stamina, immune system and Qi potential.
