Purge Basics: Pai Da 拍打
Clear your energy, boost your circulation, and feel lighter in just one session! 🌿
In this powerful Medical Qigong flow, we’ll use Pai Da (拍打 body tapping), shaking, and the Six Healing Sounds to release stuck Qi, calm the mind, and recharge your whole system.
Why Purging is Important
Throughout the day, we accumulate energy from our environment, emotions, and experiences. Just as we take a shower to cleanse our physical body, we also need to clear and refresh our energy body to stay balanced and healthy.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qi stagnation is the root of many physical and emotional imbalances. When Qi is stuck, it can lead to fatigue, tension, emotional heaviness, and even pain. This practice is designed to:
✔️ Clear blocked energy and emotional stagnation
✔️ Stimulate circulation and invigorate the blood
✔️ Reset the nervous system and restore inner balance
Pro Tips
Patting or beating at acupuncture points or along meridian channels—a technique known as Pai Da (拍打)—is an important method of health preservation in both Chinese medicine and Qigong. Begin with gentle Wen Pai(文拍; Scholar Patting) and gradually progress to more vigorous Wu Pai (武拍; Military Patting). In TCM terms, patting draws Yang Qi to the surface of the body, which is especially helpful when cold has entered the Bladder channel and is causing pain.
What to Expect
We’ll begin with Pai Da (body tapping) and shaking—two essential techniques to break up stagnation and open the meridians. Then, we’ll integrate the Six Healing Sounds to release emotional energy, finishing with classic Medical Qigong purging exercises and affirmations to let go of what no longer serves you.
Precautions
Pai Da and shaking are generally safe for most people, but always listen to your body and work within your comfort level. Avoid purging if you are in pain, have inflammation, weakness, fever, body aches, or are experiencing acute illness. Do not tap over open wounds, bruises, varicose veins, or inflamed areas.
Purging can sometimes trigger a cathartic release of emotions. If this happens, allow yourself time and space to process—drink plenty of water afterward to support the cleansing process. Since purging opens the pores, avoid practicing in a windy or cold environment to prevent external pathogens from entering the body.
If you have a serious medical condition, are pregnant, or are recovering from surgery, consult with your healthcare provider before practicing. Always begin gently, especially if you are new to body tapping, and gradually increase the intensity over time.
