Yin Yoga for a High Vibration

Yin Yoga is a deeply healing and meditative form of yoga that targets the connective tissues and energy meridians of the body. This unique Yin Yoga routine is designed to embody the four highest vibrations in Buddhism, called the Brahmaviharas. The Brahmaviharas are: loving kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity. In this routine Marisa will guide you through an asana (posture) that embodies each abode, along with reflections to activate the vibration within your heart-mind. The more you place your attention and intention on these qualities within, the easier it is to integrate them into your daily life.

A Yin Yoga pose is typically done on the floor and held for five minutes; enough time to release stagnation within the fascia, refine subtleties of the breath and quiet the mind. The benefits are many ranging from enhanced flexibility, deep fascial release, energetic balance, mental calm and stress relief. Whether you are keen on hatha yang style yoga or not, yin is accessible and the postures can be modified for almost everyone, at every age.Note that props including blankets, pillows, soft blocks, bolsters and a plush or padded surface are highly recommended to support the practice.

Marisa's deep understanding of Buddhism comes from academic studies in Comparative Religions at Long Island University, over 20 years of personal practice, apprenticeship with Ajarn Helen Jandamit, and a year of participant observation at Buddhist monasteries in China, Taiwan and Thailand. She designed this routine through a vision that combined her knowledge of Yin Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine with these Buddhist gems of wisdom. The result is in an uplifting, full body experience.
